Lesson Two: Account Setup

eBay is beginner-friendly. They allow: New sellers Low experience Small starting volume Walmart does NOT. Walmart wants proof that you can already sell online. So your path is: Start on eBay Make a few sales Build account history Apply to Walmart This dramatically increases approval odds. Do NOT skip this.

Register with your personal name to start. Later you can register or switch to a business name. Go create your eBay account and switch it to a seller account. You’ll need: Legal name Address Phone number Email Bank account Debit card During setup: ✅ Use your real information ✅ Connect your bank for payouts ✅ Verify your phone ✅ Complete identity verification Once finished, you should be able to list products.

Before listing anything: Add a simple store name Upload a basic profile photo or logo (optional) Fill in return policy (30 days recommended) Set handling time to 1–3 days This makes your account look professional from day one.

Inside your seller dashboard: Payments: Make sure your bank account is connected Confirm payouts are enabled Shipping: Add your shipping address as your store name Add your return address Choose USPS / UPS This prevents problems later. No shortcuts here.

Only AFTER eBay is active, and you register a business in your state. When applying to Walmart, they’ll ask for: Business info (can be sole proprietor) Bank account Tax info Your eBay store link Proof of online selling experience You’ll use your eBay account as proof. This massively increases approval chances. If Walmart denies you: No problem. Keep selling on eBay. Reapply later. These lessons will focus on eBay to ensure success.
